To qualify for an interest free loan, the organisation should fulfil the following criteria:

Property Management Company

The Carbon Trust Interest Free Loan has enabled a property management company to switch lights off out at certain periods without causing restrictions to tenants. They managed to save approximately £3,600 on their energy costs. The Carbon Trust issued £5,200 for the installation of fast-reacting Digital Motion Sensors, so light can now be provided when the tenants require it. The result is less wasted energy and money lighting unoccupied areas.

Care Home

All the light bulbs were replaced by electricians at a particular care home with Energy Saving Light Bulbs. The reduction in the home’s energy usage is significant and it does not compromise the living areas of the home.

In conjunction with the lighting installation, the rest of Carbon Trust Interest Free Loan was used to fit a Solar Thermal heating system for the generation of hot water.

They took out a loan for £12,500 and will make projected savings of £4,800 per annum, with CO2 reductions of 32 tonnes. The payback period is likely to be 3 years with many energy saving opportunities post that period.
