HOME AUTOMATION
What is Home Automation?
Home Automation is installed by our electricians to control the lighting & household appliances remotely or by central management control in the property. Home Automation is not a new development, which electricians install; it’s an evolving practice that many of us already have in our homes. When was the last time you changed the TV channel on the TV itself? You probably used a remote control instead, which is one example of Home Automation! As your electrician will explain Home Automation allows you to control many of the electrically operated devises in the home. Home Automation is part of the many Energy Saving Electrical Installations that our electricians provide.
Home Automation can include a number of different installations by our electricians including the control of home entertainment systems, watering of plants in the garden, feeding your pet automatically and different light dimmer options for events in your home. Maybe you want dimming equipment installed by our electricians for a dinner party you are hosting or even the use of a remotely operated domestic lighting system. Home Automation obviously relates to work within residential properties; however building automation is the commercial or industrial version where the lighting, doors, windows and security systems can be controlled. New Build or Retrofit?
The installation of Home Automation by our electricians can be achieved in either a new build property or an existing building. Your electrician will explain the variety of Home Automation options available. With a Home Automation installation in a new build there is increased accessibility to accommodate the technology. This provides more flexibility and choice for the customer which our electrician will discuss with you. There are fully wired installations and wireless systems available for new build and existing buildings. Wireless systems are ideal for installations in existing houses, as there is no need to make big structural changes. Home Automation in Operation
You may be thinking how Home Automation works and what is the right option for you? Your Mr Electric electrician will describe in detail how the system could work. You may have a module that plugs into the mains socket which sends messages upon a button being pressed. You could control 3 table lamps in a room with the same module or alternatively by using different modules. The electrician will describe how 16 switches could be under control from your armchair or favourite couch using an installation like this. These particular electrical installations completed by our electricians have an incumbent mini timer, which looks like a small alarm clock and if required they can send messages at intervals specified by the user. You may want to turn the kettle on five minutes before you get out of bed so that when you go down to the kitchen there is a hot water waiting for you to make your cup of tea. There are multiple options which your electrician will talk to you about. You may wish to have modules installed by our electricians that control lamps and appliances. Lamp modules can be used to control bedside lamps, and appliance modules could be an applicable electrical installation for baby monitors or switching the radio off just after you leave the house every day. Your electrician will describe how these systems can be controlled from your computer so that the relevant functions of the Home Automation System are managed effectively. Other Energy Saving Electrical Installations are available from our team of electricians. Touch Screen Home Automation
There are home automation systems that are controlled by touch screens and can be installed by one of our electricians. They are an ideal application for our qualified electricians to discuss with customers. As a wireless application they can control a number of modules installed in the home. The electrician will explain how the screen can be personalised to suit your electrical requirements. The touch screen enables all the lights in the house to be switched off with one single touch of the screen. Home Automation Applications
For advanced Home Automation installations, there are a number of aspects to the installation, which the electrician will discuss with you. Home Automation could be installed in the rooms of your home to sense the presence of specific people. This enables lighting, heating levels, music and/or television levels to be set specifically for certain people. Your electrician will explain how this can take into account the time of day, and other relevant variable factors. This may involve the installation of Digital Motion Sensors. Natural lighting can be controlled by an installation from a Mr Electric electrician. Window shades, drapes and awnings can all be controlled. Your electrician will explain recent technology that avoids wiring to switches and any integration with multiple home automation systems. With CCTV & Security
Home Automation can integrate with security systems as your Mr Electric electrician will confirm. Take the example of someone walking up your front garden, the security light will come on and the CCTV image will be shown on your TV. The Home Automation system can also be set up by your electrician to record video footage, when you are away or on holiday. All kinds of unauthorised movement can notify the owner of the premises through the security system or to a mobile phone, following a correct electrical installation by one of our electricians. With Air Conditioning
Home Automation maybe programmed by your electrician to set air conditioning equipment in energy saving mode when there is nobody in the house. Conversely, the air conditioning is then set to work on standard settings when people are due to return. Home Automation systems can be installed by your electrician to work on a more sophisticated basis. These systems record product inventory and their usage so that shopping lists can be created for replacements. Alarm Systems
Home automation, as your electrician will confirm can be used to detect a fire or smoke in the building. All the lights in the house will flash or flicker to alert people in the house of a danger. For houses with a home theatre system with integrated TV & Blue Ray etc, the home automation system installed by Mr Electric electricians can shut down all audio and video devices. A solution installed by our electricians like this will alert the householder of a fire or whether a burglar is present. There are no limitations to Home Automation, it is upto your local Mr Electric electrician to provide solutions that meet your needs. The limit on Home Automation is often the customers imagination in conjunction with one of our electricians expertise and experience. An installation customised to you by a qualified electrician is the way forward. There are number of options that the electrician will confirm with you and one area of Home Automation is the lighting systems of the home. Our electricians will provide more details on Lutron Lighting Home Automation, but contact us now for more information or request an energy saving installation. |
