10:00am: John leaves his colleagues who continue with the council project to attend an emergency call out. Mrs. Graham has had a loss of power. John follows the Mr. Electric service system, which consists of wearing shoe protectors and following a clear pricing structure. John is always sure to use the menu price guide which shows Mrs Graham the prices for a variety of electrician jobs. 11.00am: After finding the fault, John writes all the information on the installation order form. He now agrees with the customer the price and the tasks to be performed. 11:30pm: John completes the job and Mrs. Graham has her power back. John fills in his time sheet and informs the office, who now ask him to attend a new job which is to measure up for costing a new lighting installation. 12.00pm: At a local office cleaning company, John speaks with the owner who helps to build a full picture of what the job entails. He makes some drawings on site and tells the customer he will contact them shortly to provide an exact quote. He returns to the office, where he explains what is required for this big job. 1.00pm: John now meets up with his electrician colleagues for some lunch at the local sandwich bar and has a break for an hour. 2.00pm: Back at the worksite, John tests existing wires with a continuity tester to make sure they are ring mains. He then tests the sockets to make sure they trip out within a safe time. 2:30pm: John puts labels on the relevant sockets. The labels will match the fuse board schedule and will help future electricians know where to isolate them. 2:45pm: The council project inspector visits the site to assess the work that has been done. 3.00pm: John helps the newly qualified technician Mark Jones, to put new feed into the existing bathroom and kitchen lighting circuit. John said “I like passing on my skills to help others.” 4:00pm: John then figures out plans of an induction loop that will be installed in one of the rooms. They conclude that more cable is needed and that they need to talk with the builder before proceeding. 4.30pm: John heads off to the electricians wholesalers to re-stock the van for tomorrow. 5.00pm Johns pops into the office to check all is OK for tomorrow. 5.30pm This electricians work day is over and John heads home to enjoy one of his wife’s special lasagnes.
