Mr Electric Car Charger Installation Birmingham News

Developments and advances in the electric vehicle industry are now coming so thick and fast that it’s difficult to keep up with them.

In our last article, we looked at how easy it now is to get an electric vehicle charge point installed at your home or place of work.

But what about when you’re out and about? You might be concerned about the distance you can travel on your charge and the availability of electric vehicle charge points across the country.

This is also an area where change is rapid. Electric vehicles are now coming to the market with ranges in excess of 280 miles.

We’ve also had some major announcements this month where charging infrastructure is concerned.

Take longer journeys in electric vehicles

Highways England has announced a £2.8million investment that will help people take longer journeys in electric vehicles.

This will fund the installation of 50 electric vehicle charging points along England’s motorways and major A roads over the next nine months.

It is part of the organisation’s commitment to ensuring 95% of England’s motorways and A roads are within 20 miles of a charge point.

Mark Collins, from Highways England, said: “This contract is about supporting drivers of electric vehicles using our network. It will give them additional charging facilities just off England’s motorways and major A roads to help them make longer journeys and reduce the anxiety of potentially running out of power. We look forward to the benefits this will provide drivers on our roads.”

The work being carried out under this contract is in addition to electric charging points being installed as part of Highways England’s collaboration with local authorities during its current road investment period (2015 to 2021).

Also this month, we have seen the inauguration of the UK’s largest EV rapid charging hub that is accessible for drivers of any electric vehicles.

The hub has eight charge points and is located just off the M1 at the Milton Keynes Coachway.

Supermarkets are also continuing to come on board with charging points, having realised the benefits of enabling customers to charge their vehicles while they shop.

At the end of last year, we had the news that 2,400 7 kW charging bays would be installed at 600 Tesco stores over the next three years, and now Morrisons has agreed a deal to install rapid chargers at its supermarkets nationwide.

Around 100 are expected to be up and running by the end of this year, with the first to come online before the end of next month.

As well as consumer-facing businesses realising the advantages of electric vehicle chargers in attracting more customers with a greater dwell time, other companies are also switching on to the benefits for their own workforce.

Jaguar Land Rover, for example, has installed 166 EV charge points for use by employees and visitors at its engineering base in Gaydon.

This upward trend is something that we are seeing reflected on a lower level, as The Car Charging Company has had a record start to 2019 in terms of electric vehicle charge point enquiries and installations.

As authorised Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV) installers of EV charging points, Mr. Electric The Car Charging Company works with a number of approved manufacturers to install high quality and smart electric vehicle charging points and infrastructure across the country.

We can also secure grants towards the cost of your domestic and commercial installs.
