Let Us Protect Your Business
Whether you’re moving into a new commercial premises or wish to improve the security of your current office or warehouse, Mr. Electric can provide the advice and technical support you need to keep your business safe. Our expert electricians will happily advise you on the best solutions and tailor them according to your company’s budget, whether it’s emergency lighting, outdoor security lights or electrical safety equipment.
Emergency Lighting
Our specially trained engineers carry out emergency lighting tests as part of their routine inspections of commercial premises. Emergency lighting is needed in commercial buildings – and some domestic buildings – to ensure the safe evacuation of occupants in the event of an emergency. For this reason, all emergency lighting must be regularly checked, tested and maintained, while complying with fire safety and building regulations.
A flick test can and should be done routinely to make sure that the emergency lights are functioning. A flick test involves momentarily shutting off the main lighting to see if the emergency lights start up and work correctly.
Emergency lighting can be broken down into two sub-categories: emergency escape lighting and standby lighting.
Emergency escape lighting is used when leaving the property and/or attempting to resolve the situation. Only appropriately trained personnel should try to correct the issue. Escape route lighting should be followed to a safe meeting point in the event of a life-threatening emergency which requires immediate evacuation of the building.
Standby lighting is needed when power has been lost to the main lighting system but there is no risk to the people on the premises. This lighting is there to allow people within the building to continue as they usually would.
It is also important that your fire safety systems are checked regularly. They need to be able to work with the emergency lighting systems you have in place to ensure the safety of all people on the premises. Our engineers can check both systems at the same time to provide that valuable peace of mind to business owners, employees and customers.
Outdoor Security Lights
Businesses are a common target for thieves, but outdoor security lights can be a good way of deterring criminals from targeting your own company. At Mr. Electric, we can design a lighting solution that protects the security of your property, employees and customers alike. This could include floodlights, tree lights and car park lights, plus other features like motion sensors and intruder alarms that help to create a safe and secure commercial premise.
Surge Protection
Damage from power surges is one of the leading causes of electrical equipment failure. For businesses, it is critical to be protected from surges that originate from both internal and external sources so they don’t hinder productivity or cause electrical hazards.
What causes power surges?
There are numerous causes of power surges, including lightning, problems with your utility company’s equipment, large appliances cycling power on and off, faulty wiring and fallen power lines.
What is at risk?
All items that have a microprocessor are at risk during a power surge. This includes items like computers, air conditioners, fax machines, scanners, printers, televisions, security systems, refrigerators, alarm systems, microwaves and telephones.
How can you protect your business against surges?
One of the best ways to protect your company against power surges is to invest in a surge protector. These relatively inexpensive devices limit the voltage supplied to an electrical appliance by shorting to ground or blocking any voltage that exceeds a safe threshold.
A surge protector will ensure your employees don’t lose valuable data, not to mention productivity, in the event of a power surge. It will also save you having to shell out potentially thousands of pounds on replacing expensive equipment that could be damaged beyond repair by a surge.

Excellent service. The second time I have had these guys. Only issue was that they forgot to do one of the extras I asked them to do when they arrived - and I forgot to remind them (faulty bathroom heater).

We were changing the light fitting in our kitchen and needed it doing in two stages firstly unwire and take down the old florescent light then the ceiling was going to be re plastered and left to dry out before painting, 15 mins plus travel surprised as your site states no callout charges to be asked for £90.00 for the 14 hours work, but paid and asked for this to be taken into account when the electrician came back when the ceiling was ready for the new LED unit to be placed and wired up, and Steve was as good as his word and discounted the further payment to take into account of the original £90 already paid.

After a number of failed attempts to get local electricians in I contacted Mr Electric by email, had a swift and detailed response and arranged a quote. They turned up on time, the quote was received by email 2 days later and we agreed on the works. Steve in the office and Steve the sparky who visited to carry out the work have done everything they promised on time and on budget, excellent service!
