APRIL 2026 – ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGERS FOR HOLIDAY HOMES UPDATE:

Are you interested in earning more money or offering greater facilities to guests at your Holiday Home? Ever thought of having an Electric Vehicle Charger installed?

Now is the time, as there is a grant available of £500.00 from 1st April 2026 for Holiday let/homeowners that are either paying VAT or registered for Business Rates.

The grant is currently £350, so if you have already applied for a voucher and not used it, you can reapply to get the higher rate after April 1st.

See below for details of Grants available:

OZEV’s home and workplace grants have been extended for a final year with a streamlined, simplified portfolio:

  • 5 grant schemes have been extended until 31 March 2027, with new grant rates.
  • 3 schemes will close on 31 March 2026.

The government reserves the right to end or change this grant scheme.

If a grant ends or the grant amount changes, the government will:

  • aim to provide 4 weeks’ notice
  • honour claims made before any public announcement, subject to the grant criteria

Grants that are closing on 31 March 2026

The following grants will close:

Grants available for homes from 1 April 2026

Funding for these grants is available until 31 March 2027:

Changes to grant rates for homes

The maximum grant rate for these schemes will increase from £350 to £500 per socket.

Changes to the application and claims process

From 1 April 2026, there will also be some changes to the application and claims process for the flats and renters grant and the residential landlord chargepoint grant.

Grants available for workplaces from 1 April 2026

Funding for the following grant is available until 31 March 2027:

Changes to grant rates for workplaces

The maximum grant rate for the WCS will increase from £350 to £500 per socket.

Businesses and other workplaces will be eligible for up to £500 per socket for installations completed from 1 April 2026, regardless of when they applied for a grant.

Grants available for state-funded education institutions from 1 April 2026

Funding for the following grant is available until 31 March 2027:

Changes to grants rates for education institutions

The maximum grant rate for the WCS grant for state-funded education institutions will decrease from £2,500 to £2,000 per socket.

New Find a grant service for the flats and renters and residential landlord chargepoint grants

When the new service opens on 1 April 2026, there will be some changes to the way the flats and renters grant and residential landlord grant are applied for, claimed and processed. This will mean that:

  • customers will need to register for a Find a grant account to apply
  • customers will apply for the flats and renters grant directly, rather than being sent a link by their installer
  • customers and installers will be notified by email if an application is successful and sent terms and conditions for the grant scheme
  • installers will be provided with a link to a digital form to claim the grant
  • installers will receive email notifications when a claim is rejected for further evidence, declined or approved, and will need to keep track of this – there will not be a portal where installers can check the status of their claims

Transition to Find a grant

The current portal will close to customer applications on 31 March 2026.

When the Find a grant platform opens, customers who applied for a grant before 1 April will be able to reapply for the higher £500 grant rate using the new service. Their old application will be cancelled and the new one will be assessed.

If you do not wish to re-apply, your installer will be able to fit your chargepoint and claim the grant on the current portal (up to £350 per socket) until it closes for claims on 26 May.

After that date your application will expire and you will need to submit a new application on Find a grant.

Installers who have submitted claims on the current portal will have up to 6 July to provide any further evidence requested.

If a claim can not be processed installers will have the opportunity to re-claim on the Find a grant platform for a limited period.

Timescales for assessing applications and claims

Initially we estimate that it will take up to 10 working days to assess applications and claims submitted on Find a grant.

Chargepoints must not be installed until we have notified you that you are eligible for a grant. We will notify your installer at the same time.

Closure of grant schemes

The timeline for the closure of the staff and fleets, commercial landlord and residential landlord infrastructure grants is as follows:

  • last date for customers?to?apply for a grant –?31?March?2026?
  • last date for installers to claim?a grant?–?26 May?2026
  • last date for?installers to resubmit claims?if?further information?requested?–6 July ?2026? (unless current deadline is earlier)

This means installers will have 3 months from the announcement of the closure on 25 February to complete installations and submit claims.

Processing of claims

There will be enough time to process all claims, so long as installers provide the required evidence within the deadlines.

Even if claims are submitted on the closing date (26 May 2026), there will be time for at least 2 resubmissions if installers respond promptly to requests.

Before taking on any new work, please make sure you will be able to meet these deadlines for claims and any resubmissions. Claims will be declined if you do not.

This OZEV Grant is only running until 31st March 2027, and this is the FINAL chance to get this grant.
